Forney Texas, - A quick decision that led to the rescue of a missing youngster last month turned into a congratulatory ceremony Monday night at the Forney ISD Board of Directors Meeting, when Kaufman County Sheriff David A. Byrnes honored Brandon Baughman for finding a special-needs seven year old boy.
It was December 12, when the boy’s parents reported him missing near the Winners Circle Addition. The time was 5:30 p.m. and sheriff’s deputies were creating a plan to find him.
Brandon knew something was not right when he saw the young child walking down the road alone near the Shamrock Estates Addition. After quizzing the child about where he was going, Brandon took the child back to his residence so his parents could call 911 to report the child found.
Brandon is a student at Henderson Elementary School, in the Forney ISD District. Lt. Fred Klingelberger stated, “We often are in contact with youngsters who don’t do the right thing. This boy did the right thing completely on his own.”
Sheriff David A. Byrnes stated, “We are proud to recognize Brandon tonight,” “because he acted on his own with no thought of recognition, and really provided a valuable service.”
