Terrell Texas,-Kaufman County deputies responded to a call in the 1300 block of County Road 319 on March 18, 2012 regarding a violation of a protective order. The victim, a 75 year old resident at the address, told deputies a protective order was in place for Donald Wayne Ashby, 46, of Terrell, and Ashby had entered his residence on several occasions since the protective order had been put in place. The victim told deputies Ashby forced him to cash two checks at the bank for a total of $3000.00. Ashby also told the victim that he wanted to be taken to a local pawn shop to purchase a weapon. Fearing for his well being the victim called Kaufman County deputies for help.
On March 19, 2012 investigators located Donald Wayne Ashby at a residence near Terrell, and after a six hour stand off with investigators, the Kaufman Crisis Intervention Team, and the Kaufman County Multi Jurisdictional SWAT team he surrendered peacefully. Ashby was transported to the Kaufman County Law Enforcement Center. Ashby is chared with Aggravated Robbery and Violation of a Prortective Order.Bond is set at $550,000.00.
